小時候玩過的模型

有了小朋友之後, 又開始看著各式各樣的玩具和組裝式的模型, 其中吉胖貓的模型算是相隔幾十年之後, 我第一個買的模型, 然後是兩個小尺寸的宇宙戰艦系列當中的模型。

以往的模型, 除了自己要用鉗子或美工刀等工具把模型組件剪下來, 用砂紙修邊, 用模型膠水黏合, 然後用貼紙/水貼, 甚至要靠自己用模型顏料來完成整個完整的塗裝。隨著技術的進步, 有的模型是不但拆解方便, 直接彩色塗裝, 而且可以用卡榫直接組裝。

這讓我回想到除了零星的小尺寸機動戰士(鋼彈)模型之外, 我自己小學期間應該做過或擁有這些戰機模型: F15, F14?, 好像還有MIG-23之類的, 可惜年代久遠已不復記憶, 當年都是買宮田(TAMIYA)出的模型。

英文, 準備留學的二三事

我大概是國二的時候, 希望自己能有機會出國留學, 那時候反而完全沒有想到要準備多少錢等等的經濟問題, 而是因為這樣的念頭, 讓自己願意在英文這方面多花的時間, 也開始從住家裡附近的公共圖書館(市圖永春分館)找一些留學生寫的經驗分享, 自己也買過幾本類似的書。那時候這類書大部分是美加補習班出的。

進了五專之後, 想要留學的念頭持續著, 因此也曾經花了一學年的時間背了劉毅出的英文單字3000字這一本, 但是後續就沒有再把一整本單字書被完整過。也曾想嘗試拿字典來背, 可能是受限於字體和編排的關係, 所以我不曾完整的背過字典過。

其實, 在整個學生生涯當中, 如果扣掉一次沒有全勤上完的美加GMAT課程, 我只有在五專的時候, 曾在重慶南路世界大樓樓上的喬登美語(原址已經改成別的單位)上過兩次暑期密集班, 一次寒假寫作班，這些都是白天的課程, 多半在中午十二點就結束。然後就是五專要升五年級的暑假, 上了一次晚上上課, 由美國在臺協會所辦的英文密集班

忘記是從五專三年級的上學期還是下學期開始, 我先從擔任學校圖書館的義工開始, 之後轉作一陣子的工讀生, 大概五年級後期, 我又用義工的身分在裡面幫忙, 也正是這樣的機緣, 讓我能有機會在圖書館裡翻閱各種雜誌和借閱各種經營管理類的書籍, 我大概是在剛在圖書館幫忙的初期, 從某一期的天下雜誌, 得知了MBA這個玩意兒, 也算是第一次看到世界性的MBA排名的訊息, 那也是我第一次知道了IMD, INSEAD這些獨立的商學院。

接下來, 有好幾年的時間, 在那個還沒有網際網路和PDF檔案格式的年代, 我用電腦和點矩陣印表機打出一封封的詢問信, 然後自己貼郵票,寄航空信到國外的學校, 向他們索取MBA等相關的學位課程的訊息或著是working papers等研究資料。

也正因為如此, 有時候家裡信箱裡面, 會塞著厚厚一包包來自外國學校寄來的紙本資料, 打開信封, 看著這些幾乎是不可能申請得到, 遙不可及的學校和課程資料的行為, 竟也充實了我好幾年的青春。有時候在資料上看到不認得的單字, 我就會拿起字典查閱, 也算是我一種學習英文的方式吧。

推車掰掰, 謝謝您 (Chicco SimpliCity, 紅色系)

今天把小朋友小時候做的娃娃車, 連同隨車的雨遮和腳套, 一起拿去給一個收二手品來幫助弱勢家庭的單位。

出發之前, 小朋友還在車上坐了好一陣子, 畢竟這台車從三歲半之後, 除了第一次去東京的時候有搭, 幾乎已經好一陣子沒有坐了。看著已經長大的孩子, 坐在這台從他四個月大的時候買來的車子, 雖然還不至於坐不下, 但是那種心情上的對比是很強烈的。當然, 和上回把小時候的浴缸拿去回收一樣, 大人和小朋友有一起和這台車子說謝謝和掰掰。

出門前, 小朋友先在樓下的中庭和車子照相, 有坐在車上的合照, 也有站在車邊的。孩子真的是大了呢。

搭了捷運, 把車子推到那個單位之後, 說明一下車子的收納方式之後, 我們再請小朋友和車子說謝謝和掰掰之後才離開。

謝謝這台車子的幫助, 讓我們能夠帶著孩子上山下海, 除了用它載著小朋友一路推到北投的春天酒店, 帶著它和小朋友一起搭著舅舅的車子到中南部玩. 我們也帶著它到東京展開小朋友第一次的搭機出國之旅。平常的時候, 車子本身驚人的負載能力, 也讓我們能夠在採買的時候, 滿載而歸。

小朋友一歲多的時候, 雖然戴著安全帶坐在車上, 但是幾次直接穿越安全帶站在車上的舉動, 著實嚇到了爸爸媽媽。有一陣子, 小朋友特別喜歡坐在車上的時候遇到碎石子路, 當連人帶車隨著顛簸的路面上下震動的時候, 小朋友似乎覺得特別高興, 有一回在自來水博物館的時候, 好像還因為整台震著震著而睡著了呢。

在網路上找了一下, 我才發現現在要找一模一樣的車子似乎是找不到, 只能找到同款新版的, 另外還看了相關的影片介紹, 我才發現原來我以前把車子收起來的方式完全是錯的, 不僅太過為粗魯, 也容易因此而讓自己的腳步因為撞到車體而受傷。只能說店員的訓練很重要, 因為我不記得店員當初有教我像影片中這樣的收納方式啊~
